Executing projects of national Importance like NOFN (National Optical Fibre Network), NE-I and NE-II projects under USoF in North East India has not only exhibited its prowess in the field of ICT, but has also enabled rural and remote areas of the country. Puducherry became the first to connect all 98 Gram Panchayats on broadband as part of NOFN. Revolutionary ICT project in Bhutan has been exemplary. Malappuram municipality has become the first civic body in the country to offer free Wi-Fi connectivity, kudos to RailTel. Tier-III Data Center at Secunderabad is only 5th of its kind in India with capabilities to offer IAAS (Infrastructure as a Service), PAAS (Platform as a Service) and SAAS (Software as a Service).

With new services and ventures being taken on war-foot and the much-needed political momentum, RailTel has been elevating society through its unmatched contribution in gamut of Digital India Initiatives.

Railwire has been able to surpass many industry breakthroughs through sheer numbers of subscribers in a short span of time. RailTel-Google Station Wi-Fi project once completed will be the largest public Wi-Fi in the world. Cell phone is reachable to masses and so is internet becoming.

Railwire turnover has recorded a percentage growth of 193% in turnover in FY 2015-16 with more than 73,500 customers and 1800+ LCOs at the end of April'16. There is an average addition of over 4000 customers every month. Railwire is one ICT tool which can leverage and be instrumental to India’s Digital uprising. Station Wi-Fi is yet another milestone in the making, to exponentially increase the reach of fast Wi-Fi to general public. Over 2.5 lakhs users are using the service every week, demonstrating more than 2x growth in less than a month.

HD Telepresence (TP) has not only reduced carbon footprint, but, is a significant step to attain “Evergreen Revolution”. RailTel TP-NOC completed 300 events on September 16, 2016. Harnessing new opportunities like tele-medicine will be able to serve inaccessible rural areas. RailTel is in talks with Health Ministry to use ICT to provide healthcare services to communities in remote and difficult-to-access locations.

ICT-isation of state and central government offices, Kerala IT Mission, installation of digital signboards on railway stations and others not only have large social impact, also provide high quality & cost-effective broadband solution. RailTel CSR activities like free Wi-Fi to Basar Railway Station, building IT infrastructure for schools have always been in line with liberating society towards digitization.

All this and more has helped to avail the boon of e-governance, e-commerce applications, e-complaint, e-forums and promote ICT-enabled solutions to accelerate sustainable development. RailTel is instrumental in transformation of citizens to netizens.
