RailTel through the support of USO Fund is implementing the intra district SDHQ to DHQ OFC network for transport of rural/remote area traffic in the areas of NE-I and NE-II circles. Under the NE-I area, RailTel has started providing the network in Tripura State in which STM-64/10Gbps network has been created.

As per the terms of the agreement between RailTel and USOF, 70% of the capacity (hereinafter called subsidised bandwidth) is available to all the licensed Service Providers (other than RailTel) in the area of NE-1 for utilisation at a pre-defined rate of 12% of the TRAI ceiling rate as prescribed in TRAI tariff circular of 21st APR 2005. The effective charges in absolute terms on the revised TRAI tariff shall be applicable such that the prescribed leasing rates shall not exceed TRAI ceiling. The available bandwidth capacity shall be available on “first come first serve” basis. The service shall have a committed uptime availability of minimum 99% calculated quarterly.
